I will be doing the finishing touches of packing for a long-awaited trip to Israel this morning, getting prepared to travel to a place I have never been...in a way that I have never travelled. Thankfully, I am not going into this blindly. I am with those who have gone before me.
Any questions that I may have about the overnight flight, airport security, and what is permitted in packing I can easily ask. My amazing aunt is right there with all details that I need to know. Why? She has been there. She has travelled this path before and has experience in what is required and what is expected. Praise the Lord that I have footprints to follow!
There are portions of each of our journeys that we have travelled through for more than one reason. Sure, the Lord took us through it to teach us and train us. But I ask you to consider that one reason you may have gone through something was so that you could help someone else who is going through the same thing.
There are parts of your story that you may not want to share, but that you may feel led to at some point. Not everyone has to hear it, but perhaps someone who is boarding that same plane and is in need of the comfort that you made it safely to the other side - maybe they need you to let them know that you've been there.
Each life is a journey, and the Lord built us to need each other along the way. Let's not allow fear to hold us back from sharing our stories or from walking through new chapters of our own. "I've been there" is such a beautiful way to connect generations with the love of Jesus. I dare you to share your story.
Father, I am so thankful for all those who have poured into my life. Thank You for allowing me to hear the stories of those who have gone before me. The encouragement is priceless. Help me to do the same for others. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
