Just Say Thank You

It seems a simple thing that I feel on my heart to share this morning, but please don't mistake its simplicity for insignificance. We need to learn to say "Thank You."

I think of the one man among the ten who were cleansed of leprosy - the only one who returned to thank Jesus for healing him. I think of the beautiful Psalm that we quote each November that encourages us to enter into His gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise.

I think of the million answers to prayer that I have received...yet that I go nonchalantly into the next issue without even acknowledging.

I recently had one of those mornings that I awoke with an Eeyore kind of attitude. All I could think of was what was wrong in my day-to-day stuff. Thankfully (no pun intended), I felt the Holy Spirit stirring me to start thanking the Lord for all that I have. Soon, my attitude had done a 180, and my day shifted with my perspective.

"Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from destruction, who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, who satisfies your mouth with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s."

I dare you to replace each complaint that enters your mind today with an out-loud "Thank You, Lord." I urge you to remember all that He has done for you, and then deeply thank Him for it. It is amazing the difference that gratitude makes, but we will never understand just how much until we practice it.

Father, I just want to say thank You. I am so sorry for all of the times that I have forgotten to be grateful. You are always faithful, so I want to always be thankful. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

Psalm 103:1-5, Psalm 100:4, Luke 17:11-19
