I just did an internet search of historical events that have happened on this day -December 27. I don't recall having ever had the urge to research something like that before, so it stands out to me that I would even be interested. Ironically it connects with something I found while cleaning the other day: my diary from childhood. I had recorded specific dates of special occurrences that I wanted to remember in it, and it was truly a walk down memory lane as I flipped the pages.
I think of a Scripture in Ezekiel when the Lord told him to record the date because of something crucial happening at that time. It also makes me think of how the Lord chose specific dates for feasts that His people were to keep as lasting ordinances each year. There is something about "on this day" that is special.
"Set up road signs; put up guideposts. Take note of the highway, the road that you take."
There will be certain mile markers along your journey with the Lord that you will want to remember. I encourage you to mark it in some way. Jot it down in a journal or mark it on a calendar. I love when my mother shoots me a text occasionally of precious specific memories on certain days, because she has marked them on a daily calendar and is reminded of them year after year.
At some point you may find yourself lagging with slower steps of faith than you had in the past. I challenge you to reach back and remember. There is something about remembering God's faithfulness "then" that will stir you to trust that He will still be faithful now.
Let this day be a day of renewed faith. A day worth recording. A day to remember.
Father, I love those moments of remembrance with You. Those times that I can walk through the pages of my journals and remember Your goodness to me then. I know that You haven't changed, so I cannot wait to make new memories each day with You now. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
