There has been an underlying theme connecting what the Lord has stirred in me the past couple of days. I take a step back now and see it as the recipe for true revival.
In sharing with the teens this past Sunday morning, we discussed preparation on our end in connection with what the Lord wants to do. There is a part we have to play in repentance and making ourselves ready for Him. It the bride's responsibility to make herself ready for the coming of the Bridegroom.
To intensify this thought, I felt the Lord stirring in me as I read in 2 Chronicles yesterday of King Asa...his early years. The Lord spoke to him through the prophet Azariah son of Oded, giving him encouragement for them to seek the Lord as a nation. King Asa's response triggers in me what I feel we should emulate in "seeking" the Lord ourselves:
Removal and Restoration.
He immediately removed the idols from all the land of Judah and Benjamin and the cities which he had taken in Ephraim. Then he restored the altar of the Lord.
Being transparent here - as I read this, there was an overwhelming conviction to remove a couple of things in my life. I believe that we truly want what the Lord wants to do in our lives, our families, our churches, our nation...but we forget the part that we must play in this. We cannot keep a grip on our idols and seek the Lord with all of our hearts.
After removing what needs removed, then we must restore true worship. We must repair the altar in our hearts. Let's come back to Him with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith. Let's seek Him as we once did.
I challenge you to ask the Lord to show you what needs removed. Then remove it. I urge you to return to your first Love...restore pure worship of the One who saved you. We need revival in our nation, and it begins in our hearts.
Father, I don't want anything separating me from You. I don't want to cling to something that would prevent me from seeking You with ALL of my heart. Help me to cleanse my life of everything that contaminates, and then restore our connection on every level. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
