I recently got to spend some time with some young people and share concerning a subject that I had felt the Lord drop in my spirit to talk about with them. I walked away after the fact wondering if I had obeyed the Lord, or if I had stuck to a pre-determined, well-intentioned, planned out outline.

Obedience is truly better than sacrifice, but knowing in what way to obey Him is a huge key that opens the door to His way of doing things.

I don't recall ever hearing the Lord's voice audibly. But He speaks through His Word, confirming it with things around me and through His Spirit within me. I have found that His "Voice" gets louder and is more recognizable the more I obey Him.

So, the point to all of this: Are you sensitive to His voice in your life? As I mentioned above, my takeaway from sharing with those young people left me feeling like I didn't hone in on what the Lord had actually wanted me to focus on with them. But why didn't He give me that to focus on before going into it??

Well, I have learned that I am on a need-to-know basis, and He doesn't have to give me anything!

Perhaps, in being sensitive to His leading we are also being sensitive to what He knows is going on inside of those with whom we are speaking about Him. We assume that they are in the same boat with us, or that what we have planned is going to fit for everyone's needs. We have no idea what someone may have experienced on the way to meet with us...but the Holy Spirit knows.

I challenge you to allow the Lord to change your plans if need be. Be soft in His hands, sensitive to His voice, and obedient to His leading. It's not that He wants to keep you guessing...He wants to reach those with whom you come in contact. Let's be vessels that pour what He wants to pour, regardless of if it fits our plans or not.

Father, I want to be sensitive to You...and obedient. I want to know what Your will is that I may do it with my whole heart. Please forgive me when I have chosen my own way. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
