On My Heart

September 5, 2019

There are different Scriptures that are drawing me to meditate and camp out in that area right now.  As I prayed and pondered what He would have me hone in to write about this morning, the phrase "on my heart" reverberated in me.  I wanted to know what He had placed on my heart to share, and there you go...

There are times that a specific Scripture resounds within me to share with others.  Then there are times that a personal story echoes loudly that I feel the Lord wants to use.  How do you know when something is on your heart...and when it is on your mind?  How do you know when it is the Lord stirring you, and then when it is just you?

Please note that when I refer to the "heart" here, I am referring to the core of our being.  I am referring to the spirit man.  Remember that the Word says that "the heart is deceitful above all things..."  So I do not want to lean to the heart of my flesh for any reason.  My will, my emotions, my feelings - these are very deceptive and can trip me up in a heartbeat (no pun intended).

Jesus said, "He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water."  Some translations say belly here.  I can personally testify that when the Lord is stirring in me something, it genuinely feels like His Spirit is churning in my belly.  It overwhelms me sometimes to the point that I know if I don't obey and allow His river to flow, that I am going to be sick.

If you struggle with wanting to make sure that you know when it is God placing something on your heart, I challenge you to pray consistently to recognize His voice.  When you have a feeling that it might be Him, and you are certain that it is not something the enemy would lead you to do or say - obey Him.  The more you obey Him, the more you recognize when it is Him.

Believe in Him, and as the Scripture has said...out of your heart (belly) will flow rivers of living water.  When you open your heart as a channel, others are refreshed by His Spirit.  I urge you to let Him flow through you.

Father, I love when you lay something specific on my heart for someone else.  There is an amazing feeling in being a vessel that Your river can flow through...so please help me to always be sensitive to know when it is You.  In Jesus' Name.  Amen.
