We have been breaking down and digging into the model prayer that Jesus gave to teach us how to pray.
We humble ourselves and remember who He is.
We surrender our will before ever beginniing to present anything to Him in the conversation.
We lay our requests before Him in faith that He cares and is the only One who can fulfill our needs.
We read the Word, our daily Bread, and allow it to hold a mirror to our lives.
We acknowledge the things that the Holy Spirit begins to convict us of, and we repent.
We forgive those who have hurt us, remembering that if we do not forgive them, God cannot forgive us.
We ask for help and protection from the tricks and temptations of the enemy, knowing that on our own we will stumble.
So what do we do next?
"Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen."
(P - Praise and Surrender)
(R - Request, Read and Repent)
(A - Ask for Help and Protection)
Y - Yes
"For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen."
This has been a basic outline that the Lord shared to guide in the path of conversation with the Father. Remembering that it is a conversation, not a lecture, I pray that you have allowed Him to speak to your heart by His Spirit and His Word throughout the time.
Maybe you have spent time in intercession as you presented your requests, and He has laid someone specific on your heart whom you needed to fight for in prayer. Maybe He has convicted you of something going on in your life that you didn't realize was out of His will as you were reading His Word. As you begin to feel the prayer time winding down to the "Amen", this is when you acknowledge that the kingdom, power and glory are His forever. This is when you recognize that you belong to Him, and your heart's response is to joyfully say "Yes".
His will. His way. Yes...and amen.
Father, I want Your will, and I want it in Your way and in Your timing. I acknowledge that the kingdom, power and glory are Yours - not mine. You are God - not me. I say yes in agreement with the answers You choose. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
