As mentioned yesterday, prayer is under attack - which is a smart move by the enemy. I'm not an expert in military strategy, but I know that cutting off communication in the enemy camp has to be a major factor. It is imperative that we pray. Let's dig deeper into the model the Lord gave us.
"Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen."
(P - Praise and surrender)
R - Request, read and repent
"Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors."
There has already been time spent in just praising and loving on Him. He invites you now to lay your requests before Him. But notice what the request was in this statement - daily bread. Sure, this means physical needs, but I also believe that He wants us to desire His Word more than food. Remember that we do not live on bread alone, but on every Word that proceeds from His mouth.
This is a good time to open your Bible in your time with the Lord. Reading for daily study, and listening to what He would speak to you through it...following the leading of the Holy Spirit for your eyes to see and your ears to hear what the Spirit says to the churches. Also, when you begin to pray the Word, you are saying from your heart that you agree with Him and that you want to line up with everything He says.
As you read and as you present your requests, drawing nearer to Him during this time alone, His Spirit will convict you of that stuff that doesn't belong near Him. He isn't trying to embarrass or shame you!! Just repent! Confess it, ask for grace to stop it, and lay it down there. We all need cleansing, and He is the One who is able to cleanse you from the inside out - so let Him.
I challenge you to allot enough time and find a prayer "closet" to allow Him to work in your life through prayer. In His Presence there is truly fullness of joy...time with Him becomes addictive.
Father, thank you for wanting to communicate with us even more than we want to pray. Please forgive us for neglecting this time with You. I pray that the body of Christ will awaken and return to our knees. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
