Giving Anxiety the Silent Treatment

July 30, 2019

I was very honored and blessed to spend some time with our youth at retreat this past weekend.  A lot of what the Lord had impressed upon me to share with the girls during the time I had with them concerned anxiety and what to do with it.  So of course, there has been some testing since to see if I will put my money where my mouth is.

If you are struggling with anxiety and are overwhelmed in the heat of the battle, I encourage you to 1) lift up your eyes to the One who is bigger than your enemy.  I urge you to 2) expose the attack, rather than isolate yourself in a corner.  And I plead with you to 3) pour out and cast the anxiety on the Lord who cares for you.  If you were big enough to deal with it on your own, you wouldn't feel suffocated by its power.

Then repeat this process over and over.

"When anxiety was great within me, Your consolation brought joy to my soul."

I read this morning of where the Lord was facing His accusers and He didn't answer them, even though the accusation was false.  The enemy would love to draw us into his game and use emotional circumstances to cause us to say something that would give him an advantage.  Don't let how you "feel" determine how you speak.  He doesn't deserve an answer to his taunting.  I dare you to lift up a praise and a prayer that goes against every anxious feeling in your soul.

I dare you to give the enemy the silent treatment.

With that said, that doesn't mean to remain silent.  Let your words become a conversation with the One who will rescue you, rather than with the one who is attacking.  Praise God!  Worship God!  Lift up your voice in victory, rather than defeat!  Don't wait till you feel like it's over...fight back with worship.

Cast all the anxiety on the Lord - let Him fight it for you.

Father, I choose to cast all this anxiety on You, because I know that You care for me.  I choose to trust You and praise You through the process, because I love watching You bring victory.  In Jesus' Name.  Amen.
