Test Drive

June 25, 2019

After sitting in a car witnessing the wisdom of my husband in test-driving a vehicle, something sweet about my Lord hit me.  He didn't do a test drive when it came to me!

I watched my husband truly test a vehicle - checking each box to make sure he had all the information needed before discussing purchase.  The lights, the oil - you name it - were checked.  If it were left to me, I would have probably just made sure that it looked good and drove smoothly.  But not the financially gifted man I love.  He wants to have all of the info he can get, and I loved watching him gather it.

But then there is my God and Father.  The Almighty One seated high on His throne.  You see, I was lost in sin and needed to be redeemed.  I needed to be purchased.  I needed Him to pay my ransom.  What if He had put me through the strenuous test that I had witnessed on the road today?  There is no way I would have passed!  I would never have been deemed worthy of any price, much less the required price for my soul.

He didn't wait to see if I would fail before He loved me - He knew I would fail.

He didn't wait to see if I would fall before He caught me - He ran to me with arms open wide.

He didn't take me for a test drive before giving His life for mine - He went all in...heart first.

I challenge you to open your heart - no strings attached - to the one who bought you, no questions asked.  I dare you to try and comprehend how wide, how high, and how deep is the love of the Father who didn't make you earn His Son's life.  I ask you to hand over the keys of your life to Him and just enjoy the ride.

Father, thank You for not doing a test-drive before purchasing me.  The Blood of Jesus has ransomed me from death and sin, and I want to spend the rest of eternity thanking You for saving me.  In Jesus' Name.  Amen.
