Preparation and Timing
I haven't filled out an application in a long time, but there were actually two before me this weekend. Each of these contained questions that caused me to have to reach back in time for some remembrance to locate an answer. Let me just encourage you this morning in the fact that timing is not in our hands...but preparation is.
I realized in the process of filling in responses that the Lord has been preparing me all of my life for such a time as this. Forgive me that I cannot go into detail, but know this: all of the paths offered you on your journey definitely affect where you will be walking "down the road". Take the paths that He directs, because each choice is significant - regardless of if it seems harmless at the time.
As stated earlier, we are not in control of God's timing, and personally I have learned that I don't want to be. His timing is perfect, and it far outweighs any manipulation that I could offer. Our responsibility is to prepare in the waiting. Even if you don't know what you are waiting for, make godly decisions along the way...so that when the time comes, you are ready.
Esther is one of my absolute favorite stories of the Word. She had been taught by Mordecai to not reveal her nationality, so she was obedient. Her obedience to him prepared her for her purpose in saving the lives of her people. She may not have known the "why" in all he taught her, but she humbled herself and submitted to the process. She also submitted to the process in preparation to be presented to the king and later become queen. The timing was not in her hands, but preparation was.
I challenge you to recognize the everyday struggles, the challenging circumstances and the people who rub you the wrong way as moments of preparation for where the Lord is taking you. Trust His timing...and get ready.
Father, thank You that You have a purpose in all that we walk through along the way. Don't let me try to hurry through a lesson just to get to the other side, when the point is something You are teaching me for down the road. Your timing is perfect. I trust You. In Jesus' Name. Amen
