I may be the only one who does this, but I doubt it. How many replay conversations and situations from the day before in your head? Thinking of good almost comebacks and wishing for a few takebacks. We absorb what happens around us. I have heard it said that we absorb the people we are around, and I believe it's Biblical. The Lord made us porous in a way, so we need to be careful what bowl of stuff our sponges are soaking in...

What is in me is most easily revealed when I am in a tight spot - when I am squeezed. It isn't when there is the cushion of a comfort zone around me. No, that's when you see my best side. To find out what is on the inside of you, watch how you react when the heat is turned up a little. Trust me, you will find out really quickly what you have been absorbing.

Will the Lord allow you to be put in a high pressure situation? I don't know about you, but in my experience it's a big YES. Why? He already knows what's gonna come out of me. He wants me to know. If you are daring to imagine that you get to ride on a high horse while everyone else thinks you have it all together, watch out...you are most likely about to get bucked by it. I don't think the Lord wants us embarrassed, but humbled.

We KNOW that we are supposed to read the Word, to meditate on it day and night. But knowing and doing are not even in the same zip code. We may meditate about intending to meditate on the Word - still won't cut it. We need to genuinely put on a spiritual swimsuit and jump in the deep end every day. We need to absorb His Word daily.

I dare you to become so saturated with Him to the point that when life squeezes you, rivers of living water gush forth and soak everyone around you. I want to be sloshing with Jesus. :)

Father, I know that I absorb words, people, situations. I want to primarily absorb You - Your Word, Your Presence, Your Life. I want You to flow through me when things come against me, bringing life to someone who may be watching. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
