Mission-minded

We are familiar with the verse that states that without a vision the people perish. Without a focal point, we tend to throw discipline to the wind. We start to lose the "why" of our lives, and in turn the everyday "what" becomes about us.

I was listening to a song on the way home yesterday that seriously fired me up and reminded me of the "not about me" mindset I am supposed to have. The more we concentrate on the Lord's purpose and plan in our lives, the less our time revolves around our own plan. But doing this every day...

It isn't difficult to get excited about what the Lord is doing in us when it's Sunday, and we are gathered together - feeling His Presence and finding encouragement there. Those moments in our alone time with Him, as well, stir us to focus on His promises and His leading for us. But keeping that mindset throughout the day...throughout the hour in some cases...offers a bit of a challenge.

Do you accept this challenge? Will you choose today to find out what His mission is for you in the seemingly mundane moments? We have many plans according to the Word, but it is His purpose that prevails. I want to find out His purpose for today, rather than being so lost in my own little world that I miss that for which I was chosen.

A little hint: His purpose will never match up with what our flesh wants to do today.

Father, I want to be mission-minded, realizing that I am a soldier in Your army. I don't want my life to revolve around me. Help me to lay down my will and find out what Yours is. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
