I wasn't there that morning. I didn't see the stone rolled away from the tomb. I didn't speak with the angels, nor did I see the guards freeze in fear of them. I didn't go in and find the tomb empty. So how do I know that Jesus is alive?
How do you know? We are such a "show me" society. It is difficult to persuade belief in anything without tangible evidence. But I invite you this morning to not only dare to live by faith but to have an answer for those who lack it.
I love how Job worded it many years before the Lord even put on humanity: "I know that my Redeemer lives, and that in the end He will stand on the earth." I know. I know that Jesus didn't just die for me, but that He arose on the third day and is alive forevermore.
If you are reading this, you are probably in complete agreement of faith, without a doubt in your mind that He lives and is seated at the right hand of the Father making intercession for you and me. You probably know how He went away, but commanded His disciples to wait for the Promise of the Father - the Holy Spirit.
I am not trying to convince you that there is an empty tomb. I just want you to be ready for the "how do you know" mentality of disbelieving people around you. I ask you to search your heart and to be fully assured that you have an answer to give for the hope that is in you.
My answer to those who would ask would most likely not be a scientific one. I believed as a child, and now I know as an adult. How? I know that the Father didn't leave His Son in the grave...because He didn't leave me in the death of sin. Change is enough proof for me.
Father, thank You for the measure of faith You have given each to believe what we cannot see. I trust You. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
