Easter Throughout the Word-Part 2
Continuing with seeing the resurrection of Christ being foreshadowed in the Old Testament...
Intercession on the Third Day
A beautiful Jewish girl was chosen by the king of Persia to be his new queen. She kept the fact that she was Jewish a secret, however, at the instruction of her cousin. As the story progressed, an enemy arose with the desire to decimate all Jews throughout the land. But there was one who could intervene and save the nation...Esther.
Most are familiar with how Mordecai pleaded with Esther to go before the king to intercede on behalf of their people. She struggled with it, however. She knew that what he asked was in essence to lay her life on the line. She knew that this would be no ordinary, casual waltz into the king's presence. This would take preparation, prayer and fasting...for three days.
This beautiful girl who had lived in the palace without them knowing who she really was chose to be willing to perish to save her people. She knew she would be in this alone, but she knew that salvation depended on her. It was not about her will, but what God had planned. So on the third day, she put on her royal robes and went before the king.
There was another who was later to be the only One who could intervene and bring salvation. He struggled and pleaded that the cup pass from Him, but knew that it was not about His will but what God had planned. His true identity was hidden behind human flesh, but at the right time revealed to witnesses chosen to declare His story. On the third day He put on His glorified body and stepped between His people and Death.
Are you in need of an Intercessor today? Are you in need of an Advocate, a Defender...One to step in and speak on your behalf? I just want to let you know that Jesus went before His Father for you. He is still interceding on behalf of His people. He faced death and in essence said, "If I perish, I perish." He chose suffering for your sake over His own will. I pray that you will let Him be your Savior today.
Father, thank You for those in the past who pointed our eyes to Your Son. I want to be one who will do the same for others today. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
