A couple of instances that have built my faith the past few years are on my heart this morning in connection with the Scripture I would like to share. I pray that as you read them, that your faith will in turn rise to a new level.
"And in Lystra a certain man without strength in his feet was sitting, a cripple from his mother's womb, who had never walked. This man heard Paul speaking. Paul, observing him intently and seeing that he had faith to be healed, said with a loud voice, 'Stand up straight on your feet!' And he leaped and walked."
A few years ago I was at work, and I walked by my dear friend who was sitting at the front desk. I remember that she wasn't feeling well that day, and I asked her how she was. I remember her saying something about just having the "crud", and I believe she had had a sinus headache that she couldn't seem to get rid of for a while. (Not gonna lie, some details get fuzzy over the years.) I remember looking directly at her and saying with authority, "Crud, be gone." She believed. I believe it was the next day that she came up to me and said the headache was gone.
About five and a half years ago I went to a family get-together and talked with my cousin; she and her husband had been trying for a while to have a baby. They had received a lot of medical help, but nothing was working. I could tell that she was to the point of becoming bitter, and it hurt me so badly. (During this time period the Lord was dealing with me about asking Him for BIG and believing that He will do it.) I walked her out to her car as she left and asked to pray with her. I remember in prayer that He gave me the faith to not only ask for Him to give her a child, but to declare that by that time the next year she would have a baby. (I must note that she had given up completely and had been off of fertility medicine for a few months, I believe.) As I looked up after prayer, I saw tears running down her face, and she said something to the effect of, "I'm gonna have a baby." She believed.
Two months later she called me in tears with news of a positive pregnancy test...and one month after that, she let me know that there were two. (She now has three of the most beautiful boys I have ever seen running around her house.)
I believe with all of my heart that these miracles came so easily because there was faith to match on the other end. They believed beyond a shadow of a doubt just as that man who had been crippled in Paul's day. Do you have faith to match the miracle that you need from the Lord? I dare you to just believe.
Father, I am so thankful for these times that I can look back and remember how You rewarded the faith of these ladies. It encourages me to believe all over again in how big and amazing You truly are. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
