We know that faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. We know that the just shall live by faith. We know that if we have faith the size of a mustard seed, we can speak to the mountain and watch it go into the sea. We know all this...by faith.
It is good to believe in God, but it is crucial to live by that belief. To match every decision with that belief. Faith isn't about what we tell other people until what we do lines up with what we speak. The way James spoke of faith should shake us to the core: "Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds."
I cannot live by what I see, because doing that would discount the promises of my Father. I would begin to think that He is lying to me, because what I see doesn't always match what He has said. Who are you going to believe? Your eyes or His voice?
The enemy would present all evidence to the contrary of what the Word declares to be Truth. When I feel the Lord stirring in me of something around the corner, all of a sudden the opposite seems to occur. Why? There is a challenge when it comes to faith. There is an opponent to test and see if you will believe the Lord even when you don't see His promises take place immediately.
I challenge and urge you to hold onto His Word. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. Please read it consistently. One day the substance of what we hope for will be visible, but until then dare to step out onto the tangibility of His Word. What is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. Have faith in God.
Father, I choose to believe You rather than physical circumstances. I know that what You say is true despite the lies the enemy would shout in my hearing. I love You and I know that You love me. I know that You came for me and are coming again. I know. I believe. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
