Consciously clothing myself daily in His truth and righteousness, making sure I am ready to proclaim His good news, and covering my mind with the assurance of His salvation...I am now ready to stand. I am completely guarded from enemy attack, fully clothed and defended by my Father. It is time to attack.
There is one weapon mentioned in this passage of Scripture...because it is the only one that we need. It is time we learned how to wield the "sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God."
Note that it is referred to as the Spirit's sword. It is the Lord's own weapon against the enemy, just as the armor is the Lord's armor. We get to wear His armor, and we get to hold His sword. Why? Because if left to cover and defend ourselves to the best of OUR ability, we would never make it out of the first battle. If we dare to swing the sword of our words, the blade will be broken quickly. Even if we try to fight with the intelligent words of spiritual mentors and leaders, these still are not sharp enough to win. WE HAVE TO KNOW AND WIELD HIS WORD.
Even Jesus wielded the Sword of the Word in battle. How much more should we speak to our temptations and trials with the words, "It is written..."? However, the key is not only to say, "It is written," but to also know what is actually written and to live it. Our enemy knows the Scripture better than we do and can quote and misuse it against us.
I beg you to stand in the armor of God and to move forward in battle, clinging tightly to the Sword of the Spirit. I urge you to fill yourself with His Words, assured that the One allowing you to hold His sword can teach you how to use it. Be fully guarded and fully armed...the kingdom of God suffers violence, and the violent take it by force.
Father, thank You for Your Word. Heaven and earth will pass away, but Your Words will never pass away. They win every battle we face. Please teach us how to wield it. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
