"...He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus."
It seems like those extended times at home that cause us to wear baggy, lounging clothes cause some unexpected changes. For some reason, when we try to put on our normal go out into the world attire, it doesn't fit the same. What happened? There was no restraint keeping us within our boundaries. We grew to fit what we expected of ourselves.
What does this have to do with anything? I believe we are the ones who limit the growth God desires in our lives. He began a good work in us. He placed HIMSELF within us. What business do we have putting boundaries on what He wants to do?
So how do we get out of the way and let Him finish what He started? Put on baggy clothes!! Just kidding. But seriously, wear what is too big for you spiritually.
You know the armor we are to put on to fight with, right? That is the armor of God. It isn't our armor. It is too big for us, but He wants us to don it everyday. We are to put on love, kindness, and humility. I don't know about you, but these garments don't always fit me. Sometimes they outright swallow me whole, but that's the point.
We tend to grow into what we expect of ourselves. I have heard before to dress for the part you want to play. If you restrain, you remain. Give yourself room to grow. Take off the limits.
There is no limit to what my God can do, so I trust Him to carry me through the process that He started in me. I cannot wait to see what He will have me wear next.
Father, I want to take the limits off and watch You be God in my life. Just as Jabez cried out for You to enlarge his territory, I cry out for You to push back the boundaries that I would set up around my little world. You are a big God, and I love it. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
