There were others that the Lord called out in front of a crowd. There was the woman who had been bent over for eighteen years. There was the man with the withered hand. He brought them forward and healed them in front of others. However, there was one who didn’t wait for Him to call on her. There was one who didn’t wait for Him to touch her. She touched Him.
We are familiar with the woman with the issue of blood. We have heard countless messages of how she pressed through the crowd. We have even heard of the fact that she wasn’t supposed to be around the people because she was considered unclean.
I confess that I am not certain why she keeps coming to the forefront of my heart this morning. Perhaps we are to glean once again the wisdom of pressing through to get to Him. Perhaps we are to listen one more time to the Lord say “Who touched My clothes?” Perhaps we are to dare to live everyday as she lived in that moment.
Whether or not He stops, I have to get near Him. I don’t care if He acknowledges me in front of the crowd; I just want to touch Him. Whether or not He touches me, there is no place I would rather be than at His feet.
She snuck in and received a healing by faith without the Lord even knowing who did it. It was like she was a burglar of faith! I want to be determined as she was to know that all I have to do is touch His garments. All I need is in Him, and that is all I need to know.
Lord, I just want to reach up and take hold of the hem of Your garment. I just want to be as adamant as this woman was—knowing that if I hold back, I’ll never know what could have happened. Also, knowing that if I keep pressing without stopping, I will find myself at Your feet. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
