It may just be me, but to pick up an old journal is somewhat like going back in time. Reading of a moment when the Lord impressed something upon me…I begin to re-live it fresh and new. Words that were jotted down to the point that they are barely legible carry me back to a special place, a moment in my story, and I am refreshed.
I am sure that I have mentioned this before, but since this is all about reminding and re-visiting I don’t feel bad about mentioning it again. I know it was over 7 years ago that it happened (because of the house we lived in at the time). The Scripture was on my heart about hearing a voice behind you, telling you which way to walk. I remember glancing at the shelves where my journals were stored and feeling in my heart that the Lord was connecting that verse to all of those pages I saw.
I say all of this to say this:
“Write down the revelation…”
Write it down. If you are like me, there is a chance you may not remember an instance of clarity in His Presence as clearly as you think you are going to in the moment—write every detail down! As Job said: “Oh, that my words were recorded, that they were written on a scroll…” Well, praise the Lord they were!! I am so thankful for all of the Words that were recorded long ago, for all of the men inspired by the Holy Spirit to take a pen to a parchment and write down what the Lord spoke. Where would we be without those scrolls?
I challenge you to keep a record of your journey with Him. You never know when you may need to reach back and remember how He came through then…to find strength in the knowledge that He will come through again.
Father, I give You the pen in my hand. Please help me to write down all that You lead me to so that I can always look back and see where we have been. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
