Lay the Bricks
Digging deeper, reaching higher, becoming rooted…I plead with you to continue to want Him more. I ask you to push yourself into forming those habits that help you to draw nearer to the Lord than you have ever been, consequentially feeling Him draw nearer to you, as well.
*Fast, pray, read the Word…
Let’s put some icing on the cake—or mortar between the bricks more like it.
I wonder how many actually read the Bible, yet never allow it to penetrate their daily lives through obedience. What is the point of that? “Knowledge puffs up,” so is it a pursuit to build oneself up to be the wealth of trivia answers? I think of the story of the three little pigs. It’s all about how you build that determines whether or not you will stand.
The Lord shared a story in relation to all of this. If we hear His Words, yet do not put them into practice, we are building a house on sand. However, the one who hears His Words and does them is the builder who builds his house—his life—on the Rock. No matter what the circumstances, that house will stand. No matter the “huff and puff”, that house does not fall.
Faith without works is dead…we must obey; we must put His Words into practice. I don’t want what I so confidently profess to be seen as dead in my life. I want to live it.
Father, Your Word has the directions for my entire life. Don’t let me try to live my way without obeying You. Don’t let me even dare to fast and pray without putting Your Words into practice. May hunger for Your Word grow in Your body. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
