This Is for the Thirsty
In an extension to the encouragement to seek the Lord wholeheartedly, I ask you to continue to join me in doing whatever we can to go deeper in Him.
Fasting was highlighted yesterday as necessary in pushing past the norm to know Him more.
I assure you that there is not a deep, uncovered revelation in what I share with you today. However, you cannot win a game with all kinds of fancy plays, while throwing fundamentals out the window.
2) Prayer. It seems basic. It seems like we shouldn't have to talk about it. But it seems like we need to.
This is between me and the Lord. This is between you and the Lord. You know how much effort you exert in communication with Him. You know how much time you spend on your knees, in your closet, in His Presence.
Prayer is something we know to do, but is it something consistently done? This is not a harping session, but a battle cry. If the enemy can distract us and cause us to fill up our time with everything else, leaving minimal time to spend with focused attention on the Lord, then he is accomplishing something huge. He is trying to cut communication lines.
Pray. Don't stop praying. I am not saying that you can spend all day on your face just soaking in a conversation with Him, but you can carry on the conversation you start with Him in your heart as you make your way through the day.
I understand that we are careful not to make anything a ritual, a religious routine. However, I also understand that we are creatures of habit, and that we need to discipline ourselves to consciously pray daily. It takes time to create a habit. I encourage you: take the time to make time.
There is so much more we could pour into this cup, and we could sip and enjoy for hours and days. But I just feel the stirring to challenge you, to ask you...will you pray with me? Don't worry, He is able to lead you in the conversation. Just make yourself available.
If you don't know where to start, ask for help. We are in this together.
Father, I choose to seek You in prayer. I love spending time with You, but I know that the enemy loves to attack this time. All the more, let us pursue You. Awaken us to pray, and to keep praying. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
