My daughter invaded the fairy tale land I was wrapped up in this weekend, and she dared to ask why I keep watching cheesy movies! Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a lot of different types of films...but there is just something about knowing what the end is gonna be when you start the movie, and then you watch it anyway just to enjoy the fluff of it all.
What's wrong with a happy ending? What's the matter with wanting to see true love win every time? Who cares if you can predict who is going to fall for whom in the first ten minutes? They still fall, and it is still fun to watch.
Sure, not every ending in life is happy. Not every love story in reality would give you butterflies in your stomach.
But there is one. There is one that never gets old, never gets dull, and never gets topped...
There was a Man who left His home to find a bride. He was Royalty, yet He disguised Himself as a normal servant. He didn't go searching in palaces, in the wealthiest districts, for beauty. No, He purposely went to the poor and sick. He went to the outcasts of society. He poured out His love and His life, knowing that no bride would be worthy.
Yet, all who dare to believe choose to clothe themselves in a wedding gown. All who dare to receive choose to search for Him in return...ever-pressing, ever-longing for that happy ending.
There is something about knowing what the end will be...and enjoying every minute of it. Even so, come quickly, Lord Jesus.
Lord, You have placed eternity in our hearts, so I cannot help but long for You. You give me forever to praise and love You, but that is still not enough time. You are worthy of more than I can give, and I am so in love with You. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
