In the movies it seems like there is always a musical sequence when the star is having to endure something that takes time. We don't get to see all of the day-to-day grind that goes into what the character is really going through...we see the start, some of the middle, and then bam the finished product.
So it is easy to become disillusioned into thinking that life has those musical sequences. It is easy to convince ourselves that we can blink our eyes, skip through a commercial, and then somehow end up at the finish line. Well, this isn't a movie, and the day-to-day is for real. The struggle is real. We cannot tag team our stunt double and go get a snack. We have to face each challenge and live through the process.
Here's the thing, though...the process is what we need! No maturity is gained when we shortcut our way to the next level. No growth occurs when we fast forward past the painful parts of life. We need each difficult step. A kindergartener typically cannot answer a calculus question, but give him a few years and the much needed steps in-between and he is ready.
Don't try to skip what needs to be endured. It isn't always that the Lord is preparing the next portion of your journey for you, but preparing you for it. We need the process...just submit.
Father, I choose to submit myself to You, Your timing, Your teaching. I need You to prepare me for whatever comes next, because only You know what that is. I am in Your hands. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
