In All Things
Today is one of those surreal kind of days…one of those days that you wait for, yet it sneaks up out of the blue at the same time. It is surgery day. Don’t worry, I will not go into gruesome details of scalpels, IV’s, and the like…but I do love to glean any kind of significance in the spiritual from what I face in the physical.
Part of my body shifts when it should stand firm. Pain radiates to other areas because one area moves out of place. What can we glean from this? Quite a lot if we choose to do so.
Sometimes we need assistance in standing solid, having a firm backbone when circumstances would attempt to make us bend. There are days when we don’t have the strength to hold ourselves together; it is okay to ask for help, and it is okay to receive it.
Sometimes different areas of our lives are affected painfully because one area is out of place. It is crucial to trace to the root of issues, to find the source of the hurt. Only when we dig deeply past the surface can we find out what really needs healing.
I pray that not only my spine receives a fusion successfully, but that any area of my life that may be out of alignment follows suit. I pray that the Lord, who alone can bring complete healing, opens my life and corrects all that needs correcting.
I choose to look past the surface of the stuff of life and ask the Lord to show me any hidden nuggets that I can treasure, that I can ponder in my heart. I dare you to give thanks in all circumstances…knowing that all circumstances have the potential to teach us something new about our glorious Lord.
Lord, I give You thanks in all of this…in the easy parts of life, and in the challenging ones. I give You thanks for every piece of the process. Please use whatever You need to use to teach me who You are. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
