Desperate

September 29, 2017

I read two separate instances in Scripture this morning in which Jesus asked of individuals what they wanted of Him.  What was their desire?  What did they wish?

I felt the question being posed to me in my spirit, and I realized before all other requests—I just want Him.

I am desperate to be close to Him.  To hear His voice.  To see His face.  I am desperate to know Him.

May desperation mark the quest for His nearness today.  May the backburner location of time spent with the Lord be thrown out the window.  NOTHING compares to seeking Him, and NOTHING compares to being found by Him.

When all you want is to be with Him, He will make a way for it to happen.  It is our responsibility to stir up the hunger and desire to press through any obstacles, to make our way from the outer court to the Most Holy Place.  It is our responsibility to turn good intentions of seeking His face daily into a necessary, bottom-line, have to of our walk with the Lord.

What do you want?  Be honest with yourself.  I dare you to search your heart and ask Him to make the desire for His Presence priority.  Because when He is truly first, everything else falls in place.

Lord, I want to live near You.  I want to dwell in Your house, ever praising You.  If ever the cares of this world begin to sneak ahead of my focus on chasing You, please wake me up and remind me that nothing compares to the surpassing greatness of knowing You.  In Jesus’ Name.  Amen.
