Change Your Tune

Have you ever awakened to a brand new day with one line of a song stuck on repeat in your mind? This is my morning so far—however, one word in the line is wrong as my mind plays it over and over and over!!! I literally had to search to find the correct lyric, so that it would play correctly in my head.

Why was it so crucial for me to correct the lyric? (Besides the fact that when something like that happens, I feel like there must be something the Lord is trying to show me)—the word that was wrong was “condemn”. The way my brain was singing it, the lyric repeating over and over was a testimony that He condemns me. That had to stop!

Of course, my sweet personal Jesus being as amazing as He is, caught my attention with it. I opened up randomly to a page in a devotional that was stating that He came to save the world, not to condemn it. Love Him! I am still consciously correcting the lyric in my mind…thankfully, it is causing me to consciously remember that He did not come to condemn me.

What might have been intended for harm against me, I give God glory that He used it to pull me closer. What song is being sung over you today? What lyrics might try to sneak in and bring you down subconsciously? Recognize the beat that you are dancing to and if needed, change the tune.

Father, I long for Your voice to sing over me today. I want to march to the beat of Your drum, in step with Your Holy Spirit. Words are so powerful, so please help me to encourage myself and others with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs today. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
