The Comfort Zone
It is a land of still waters and clearly marked pathways. It is a land of safety and security. It is where we like to hang our hat and call it home. It is the comfort zone.
Why push beyond what is comfortable? Why dare take a step past the borders of what we are able to control? Why risk stepping out of the boat?
Because that is where faith lives.
I think of the woman with the issue of blood pushing her way through a crowd that she was not supposed to be touching. I think of Rahab believing that God was going to destroy her city, so she reached out and hid His spies. I think of David arming himself with a handful of stones and the Name of the Lord.
What would the Lord have me to do today that I may find uncomfortable? Those we read about in the Word are not remembered by the way they took the easy path, but by believing God enough to follow Him anywhere.
How will you be remembered? Will your permanent residence be the comfort zone, or will you dare to believe God enough to let the walls fall?
Follow the Lord’s lead, and don’t be afraid. A life of faith is the greatest adventure.
Lord, I choose to lay my comfort aside and follow where You lead. Take my hand, and please don’t let me fall. When I can’t see You, I will trust in Your Word. You have never left me nor forsaken me. I want to please You, and I know it is impossible to do so without faith. Let’s do this. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
