It Is Written
"It is written: 'Man shall not live on bread alone,
but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’"
Words are powerful. I believe (based on the Word) that in the spiritual realm our words are visible to the Lord. I want my words to be pleasing in His “sight”. Does that affect what I say? It should.
I realize that not everyone is like this, but I absorb words almost like food...especially written ones. They are a very big deal to me. If I have read it, I can typically remember it a lot better than if I have heard it. Almost to the point that when I am spoken to sometimes, I am spelling the words out in my mind. (Just so I can remember what was said.)
If all of our words were written on us, spelled out plainly for everyone to see—what kind of story would we portray? Are you a comedy or a tragedy? Are you one of those books that shouldn’t be opened?
See, I have decided that I want to be so filled with His Word that what He has written on my heart is what comes out of my mouth. That is the only way that my words are ever pleasing in His sight—when I am speaking His!
Regardless of what I write in my journal or in this post, my words pale in comparison with His. His Words are Spirit and life. Lord, take the pen out of my hand and the words out of my mouth if I dare to display a different story than that of redemption and grace.
We are truly the only Bible that some will ever read. Are you legible?
Scripture to read:
Father, Your Word is what defeats the lies of the enemy. Your Word is what brings life. Don’t let me just read it, but live it. Place Your Words in my mouth, O God, and cover me with the shadow of Your hand, I pray. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
