Crazy Praise

“I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.”

It is always time to praise the Lord. He is always God. The change in our days, the ebb and flow of our circumstances—nothing causes Him to be less mighty. What shakes us up doesn’t budge Him. So nothing should budge our praise.

I was blessed with time with the young girls’ class last Wednesday night, and what was on my heart to share with them drifted back to me this morning. Unusual praise. We started off with giving one another unusual compliments. Not the basic, “You look pretty,” “I like your shoes,” etc. We dug deep and worded a thoughtful praise for one another, one that took a little more effort. It was so fun!

Then we stepped into doing the same for the Lord. Digging deep and going beyond what we are used to saying: “Hallelujah” and “Praise the Lord.” These are wonderful and glorious, Biblical examples of praise—but how often do we reach down past our reflex praises to vocalize something that shows our true admiration for our Lord?

When is the last time you made your praise creative? When is the last time you broke free from going through the motions to truly bless the Lord?

Also, beyond the conviction to make the praise more thoughtful, I challenge myself (and anyone else who wants to join) to make the praise more consistent. No matter how I feel, He is still good. No matter where I am, He is there with me. There may be a lot of life stuff that is not in my ability to control, but it is in my ability to praise the One who is.

I want to praise my Jesus in such an unusual, out loud, all the time kind of way to the point that it is my native language. I want to praise my Lord ALL the time. I want my praise to go before me, as I sit and watch the Lord confuse my enemies.

I want to offer a crazy praise. I want to bring a sacrifice that goes beyond ritual and religion. I want to make the Lord smile, and make the enemy confused.

Praise the Lord!!!! He alone is worthy!!!

Scripture to read:

Psalm 34…pretty much the Book of Psalms

2 Chronicles 20

O Lord, You are so much bigger than anything I face. You are so much stronger than I can even comprehend. You are so beautiful…and I cannot wait to see just how much. I love You so much. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
