There are countless products that offer us the ability to appear flawless. Make-up, concealer, even the re-touching option through photography—it is our nature to try to hide our blemishes. Moreover, we read that the bride of Christ is to be without spot or wrinkle, completely pure. But can this be achieved through the means we possess?
When you hold your Bible in your hands, you hold what is flawless in this world. But when you hide your Bible in your heart, you place purity within you. You choose to cling to what is refined and perfect, and you allow your own impurities to be overtaken by Its perfection.
There is none among us who can wash away our own sins, who can scrub away our vices and iniquities. There is no make-up powerful enough to cover our guilt, no photography tricks to disguise our sinful nature. But there is the Word of God that is completely flawless that gives us the option to be pure.
It is not meant to be placed on a shelf or to be a decoration on a table. It is not meant to be simply brought along with us to church or to a small group meeting. It is not meant to be merely quoted a few times so that we appear spiritual. The Word is alive. The Word is sharper than a two-edged sword. The Word is the sword of the Spirit. The Word is the weapon that defeats temptation. The Word is Jesus.
Have you hidden the Word in your heart? Have you dared to let Jesus Himself, the flawless One, abide within you? Every word and every letter of Him? The only way to do so is to read His Word. To marinate in it. To meditate on it day and night. And if you have a problem with reading, to listen to it.
Let His Word dwell within you. When the fiery trials of life consume you, what is left after your flesh has been placed on the altar is Him. That is flawless beauty…when the bride is made beautiful by her Groom.

Lord, I have hidden Your Word in my heart that I might not sin against You. I choose to allow Your Word to cleanse and refine me, to wash and to pierce me. Let this flesh be consumed, and let Your Word be what shines through. I love You. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
